Emily Sturges

Hey - I am 17 years old and am currently studying Dance, English language and literature and Health and Social care at Truro college. When I am out of college I dance 5 evenings a week minimum, or work down at our local beach cafe.

I have been dancing with Fiona's Dance school since it first started when I was 9 and over the years have learnt many different styles of dancing such as hip hop, freestyle, slow, lyrical, ballet, contemporary and have committed myself to the freestyle team pink and hip hop team Flava. Three or Four years ago the boys group organized by Kyle invited some girls into the group and that is when Flava started competing and we have been ever since.

Over the years Flava have been dancing together we have grown as a team through our routines and our friendships. I have recently with the team been to California to represent England and participated in many workshops. Whilst out there we performed on the stage at Disney and in the theatre Flava performed and received the Excellence awards which only three schools got. In August we will be dancing at the world hip hop championships .

Dance means everything to me, I couldn't live without it. Dance for me is a fun way to express how I am feeling, having a laugh and I am still able to be with my friends. In the future i am hoping to go to university to train to be a primary school teacher, also studying dance to teach dance alongside. Emily X
