Flava are best known for reaching the semi finals of ITV’s ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ 2008. This has gained them national recognition and more importantly the opportunity to do what they love, which is to dance and perform. Said Simon Cowell: ‘The raw talent and the choreography are as good as anything I’ve seen in America.” They’re one of the best dance acts I’ve seen in this country. They’re terrific” However, with the help and guidance of lead group member Kyle Richardson’s mother Fiona Richardson, Flava were a success in their own right before ‘Britain’s Got Talent’, not only winning numerous competitions but also representing England at the World Hip Hop Championships and the UK at the Dance Excellence Awards in Los Angeles. Despite the honour of representing their country overseas and primetime television exposure on ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent, GMTV and Toonattiks, they remain grounded. Kyle (19) the group founder, brought the group of 6 dancers together when he was just 14. Through their love of music and street dance these teenagers stayed focused and were able to express themselves during those crucial years of growing up. Four years later as a well established group of strong role models qualified dancers they want to be able to inspire other young people through their passion for dance. Says Kyle: ‘We want kids to look to us as positive role models. We are looking to tour schools in the UK not just to promote Flava, but to show the kids that if you put your mind to something you can achieve so much. We work hard, but it’s a lot of fun and we really enjoy what we do. Hopefully we’ll inspire other kids to want to do the same.’

Flava are unique in more ways than one. Alongside performing at high profile events such as Stella McCartney’s fashion show, the graduation ceremony for Jamie Oliver’s recruits at the Eden project, PPL at Cafe de Paris in Dec, Centre of Social Justice awards and the Body Shop, they also attend and support many charity events throughout the UK, two of which are very close to Flava’s hearts the Suzy Lampugh trust a charity which supports and offers guidance to reduce people's fear of crime and the Philip Lawrence awards – rewarding outstanding achievements in good citizenship by young people aged 11 to 20. Flava support the crack down on gangs and knife crime “we represent the ‘good hoodies’ “we promote this with in our workshops and visits to schools. Which is why our ‘b inspired workshops’ caught the eye of the UK Police and Councils and Flava are currently working along side them including preparing to visit the Home Secretary to apply for support and funding to implement these workshops into schools across the whole of the UK. Flava want to inspire children of all ages to have an interest and live their dreams. The future is bright for Flava with a record deal to be closed and the recording of their first track (yes they can sing as well) plus their fitness video ‘Flava Fit’ hitting the shelves, expect 2009 to be absolutely stuffed full of FLAVA!
