Jack Britten

Hi, I’m Jack Britten, age 19, from Cornwall. I went to St. Hillary Primary School and then Mullion Secondary School. It was there that I studied dance GCSE. It was during this time, that I joined the theatre company, ‘Kids R Us’ in St. Ives, taking part in various shows and events.

After school, I took a diploma in Performing arts, at Truro College. I currently work in ’36 Hair Design’ in Penzance, where I qualified as a stylist. I started dancing with Fiona about 4 years ago, and I have taken part in many different performances all over the UK and abroad. I was thrilled to be asked to join Kyle and the others to form the Flava team.

I’ve regularly competed in competitions across the UK in various different styles of dance and performance including contemporary, musical theatre, freestyle, hip hop, jazz and modern. Last year I competed successfully at Championship level winning third place in freestyle at the South West of England Championships.

Additionally, I competed with my dance partner, fellow Flava member Sarah Pearce-Mariner, in a contemporary performance that won us a place in the finals of the European Championships.

In 2006 I started volunteer work with Stage Coach, a performing arts school for children aged 3-19. I enjoy this work and I also feel that it has greatly helped my personal skills and my knowledge and understanding of how children learn and develop. in 2007 I joined the paid teaching staff at Stage Coach as a Teaching Assistant and have found this work rewarding and enjoyable.

In March this year I was accepted in to a professional touring company. The Young Americans, in California, USA. This was such an amazing opportunity for me and for the other 5 who also got in. we all intend to defer our places for a year and go out in August 09.

In my spare time I enjoy meeting friends, swimming and going to the beach. Jack.
