OUR MISSION

 

BDC will arm dancers not just with top quality dance training and education from our passionate in-house team and world famous guest teachers, but through local and worldwide outreach, cultural experiences and charity work. Raising awareness of current issues through the medium of dance, we can ensure that our dancers are not just physically ready for a professional dance career but also fully equipped with values, life skills and hands-on experience that will prepare them for any career path they may choose.

 

BE. KIND Nothing else will be tolerated! Our garden will be weeded if necessary, to ensure our precious flowers continue to bloom. Treat each other with love and respect. before we speak or act, please take your time and think: Is it true? Is it necessary? Is it kind?

BE. AUTHENTIC Authenticity is a collection of choices that we have to make every day. It’s about the choice to show up and be real. The choice to be honest. The choice to let our true selves be seen.

BE. EQUAL We will all be given the same respect and love regardless of colour, age, size, gender, background or status.

BE. TOGETHER To move forward we must all paddle in the same direction together as a team and in harmony, or we will just go round in circles. Team work from teachers, parents and students is crucial to having a happy studio.

BE. PATIENT In a world where we need everything NOW. Breathe and trust the team and our process, we are all on the same team but each student is on their own unique path. DO NOT compare yourselves to others. This has held back so many students in the past from achieving, as the focus is on what they do not have or get instead of focusing on what they do have and celebrating their own wins. Please always remind your dancers this if they get home upset they did not get that par or that place “Trust the team, trust the process” and to focus on how they can achieve it in the future. Fiona is always open to talk to the students if they need guidance.

BE. GRATEFUL To our family, to our teachers, to our mentors, to our class mates and to our mistakes. Gratitude makes the world a better place, let us never forget this crucial ingredient to a happy life and successful career.

BE. A GOOD ROLE MODEL Little ears and eyes are always learning from their influences at home and big sisters and brothers at dance. What lessons will you be teaching them? to complain, compare and self doubt, or communicate, self focus and trust the process. Nurture, encourage and empower.

BE. YOUR WORD Reliability and trust must be our foundations. Be your word. Trust that when we fall, we will be there to catch each other.

BE. HEARD Communication is key to a happy environment. If you have a concern, communicate this to our team. If we dont know we cant help. Tell us if you need help with something, tell us if you are concerned about someone, tell us if you need support. That is what we are here for.
